About Mo

Mo was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2019. After doing her best to eat only gluten free foods, she was still experiencing symptoms. In July 2020, Rudder, Mo's first Portuguese Water Dog, came into her life. As a working breed puppy, Rudder needed a job, and Mo needed a reliable way to check her food for gluten. This led to the beginning of Rudder's journey to becoming a gluten detection service dog, with the help of a specialized trainer.

Six months into training Rudder, Mo began a mentorship with CreScent Service Dogs, where she not only trained her own dog but learned how to coach others in training gluten detection and allergen detection service dogs. In February 2022, she officially joined CreScent as a trainer, taking on the responsibility of working with her own clients and their dogs. From selecting the right service dog prospects through temperament assessments to helping teams overcome the inevitable challenges of complex detection work, Mo gained valuable experience in all aspects of gluten detection service dog training.

Prior to dog training, Mo spent over two decades honing her teaching skills across different industries—including swim lessons, theater, early childhood development & therapeutic horseback riding. Mo brings a diverse skill set to her work as a dog trainer. Her unique blend of dog training expertise and teaching experience allows her to guide clients through the sometimes difficult, but rewarding, process of training their own service dog.
